ONLINE COLLECTIONS
For decades, the National Cinema Museum has been involved in locating and cataloging the many artifacts that help reconstruct the history of cinema.
This activity has found a natural ally in the web. Publishing the indices on the Internet is a way to enhance the Museum’s policy of valorizing and disseminating knowledge of its collections.
On the occasion of the launch of its new website, this section makes the Museum’s first online catalog, dedicated to its precious collections from Torino’s era of silent films, available for consultation.
Besides this multimedia catalog, other material that is already available online for consultation includes the fund of journals of Italian silent films (which can be consulted at the website of the Teca Digitale Piemontese, which is promoted by the Piedmont Region); the website "Cose da un altro mondo" ("Things from another world"), which is dedicated to the Museum’s collection of science fiction posters; the catalog of the library’s monographs and journals; and the film library catalog.
The online collections of the Cinema Museum will be expanded over time, offering a vital contribution to researchers, historians and film lovers who, starting today, have a new instrument to help them orient themselves in their search for sources and original documents.
The information regarding the material in the online collections is available in Italian.
