About
Reseau
The Reseau project (www.reseau.it)
consists of a Telecom Italia undertaking
for the tests of a very high performance
network enabling the development and provision
of innovative services to both home and
business users.
The network is implemented using innovative
technologies such as VDSL to provide broadband
access (above 10 Mbits/s), optical rings
in the metropolitan networks and GigaRouter
for interconnection of long distance IP
backbones (at 2.5 Gbits/s).
The project covers both the development
of network services based on next generation
Internet and the testing of innovative multi-media
application services.
The RESEAU project aims at obtaining the
participation of several experimental users
in the cities of Turin, Milan and Rome.
The Channel's
Contents
Through the Reseau channel, intended for
experimental users only, the National Museum
of Cinema aims at providing access to the
Workshop on Future Cinema, an experimental
space through which one can explore some
of the features that will animate digital
filming.
Virtually following the steps of the Machine
of Cinema, which illustrate the many elements
of filmmaking (editing, setting, special
effects etc.), it will be possible to interact
with the Museum contents and compare them
with some "digital productions".
It would provide an example of how digital
technology and its particular linguistic
solutions (frames, links, windows, banners,
animation) can bring new poetics and experimentation
to cinema.
The Real
One player is required to view the Workshop
contents.
