IL SECOLO DELL’AVVOCATO
Gianni Agnelli was Italy’s most important industrialist. A well-known figure abroad, he was the head of one of the world’s greatest entrepreneurial dynasties. He was also the much-envied and unreachable model of a certain type of Italian, a minority nowadays; he was elegant, an important publisher, a major art collector and art lover, an avid sportsman. As a soldier, he saw combat in Africa and in Russia and he fought alongside the American troops for Italy’s Liberation. A true protagonist of the “brief century” in which he lived, he was confronted with every type of situation: capitalism and Communism, real war and the Cold War, Fascism and a regime under the Christian Democrats, terrorism, globalization and major economic crises. An extraordinary life, which these images recall and endeavor to reconstruct.
