The
photographic collection comprises about
130,000 photographic records and about 1,800
among cameras and photographic equipment.
It counts a varied and sizeable collection
of photographic devices, accessories and
photographic records, mainly form the Piedmont
area, which was made possible thanks to
the many donations by important donors like
Gramaglia, Bertoglio, Stampini-Ratti, Nigra
and like Secondo Pia who, in 1987, donated
12,200 of his photographic records.
The recent acquisition of the Ginestra collection
has added to the Museum's heritage rare
models of devices for daguerreotypes. M.A.
Prolo's care for all of photography's possible
applications has given shape to a peculiar
collection of frames, albums, ceramics and
devices of all kinds, and of many iconographic
records that document the widespread diffusion
of photography in the society of her times.
