The "Mario Gromo International Library of Cinema and Photography" preserves an important heritage of 25.000 books and about 75.000 issues of reviews concerning the history of the moving image: monographic works, critical essays, novels, periodicals, anastatic reprints, as well as documentation on festivals, exhibitions and international film and photography events.
The Mario Gromo fund has been the first important nucleus of the library collection, together with Maria Adriana Prolo's; with the years the library has achieved other important collections thanks to other funds, such as Baracco, Santucci, Guidi, Fiore, Blandi, Dragosei, Niccoli, Colonnetti, Algardi. Worthy of notice are also the donations to the department of Photography made by Corinaldi, Bertoglio and by the Italian Association of Photography, and the rich endowment by Michele Falzone di Barbarò.
The library is constantly engaged in enriching its heritage by acquisitions, donation, exchanges and relations with cultural institutions on an international level.
The library also ensures the digital registration and SNB data processing of all monographic works and periodicals, as well as the preservation and restoration of all its collections.
