FILM AND MUSIC
In-depth works on the topic
"Film and Music" made by the students
who took part in the "Cinema Opera Concerto"
workshop
Modern
Times Avigliana Middle School, 3rd D grade
The hypertext Modern Times takes form from
the development of a vision-listening work.
Students analyzed the relationship between
music and image through different film sequences,
underlining the role of musical scores within
the plot, their influence and their symbolic
and descriptive potential. The main objective
of the workshop has been that of making the
students more aware of the soundtrack of a
film, understanding the director's choices
and intentions. Students analysed the film
Modern Times whose characteristics were the
starting point for the hypertext project.
(The hypertext has been realized with Microsoft
Power Point and includes: images, scores,
recorded texts, filmed comments and sequences
of the film).
Teachers:
Angelo Patrizio (Music) and Giuseppina Avedano
(Literature)

Traveling
Parrots Avigliana Middle School, grade 1st
C
(video-spot, 5', taken form Gino Strada's
book "Pappagalli verdi" - "Green
Parrots").
Conceived, produced and played by the students
using shadow theatre techniques, in order
to create simple animations that underline
the clashes among the various characters of
the story (the engineer designing the anti-children
mine, the chemist setting up the time-lag
reaction formula, the workers troubled by
their conscience, the politicians taking advantage
of the project's results, the general sending
the load of death, the soldiers following
his orders).
The score is taken from "Girotondo"
by Fabrizio De Andrè, adapted by the
students.
