The National Cinema Museum’s video archives offers the public the possibility of choosing from thousands of films, which can be reserved and viewed at the archives itself. From Hollywood classics and masterpieces of Italian cinema to authors of European cinema and the silent films that have been restored by the National Cinema Museum of Torino.
The archives specializes in a few areas, the most important of which are:
- Torino’s silent films (copies of many of these films are available to be viewed at the museum’s film archives; some of these films, like Cabiria, Gli ultimi giorni di Pompei, Maciste and Il padrone delle ferriere have recently been restored);
- The Sergio Sablich Fund (dedicated in its entirety to Ingmar Bergman, it contains a large quantity of audio-visual material, with roughly 400 copies on VHS and DVD, including the Swedish director’s films in their original editions and also in other languages, documentaries and TV specials);
- The Sipra Archives Fund (promotional films);
- The Giannalberto Bendazzi Fund (animation).
